The Solutions Site, created by HORIZON International (also known as HORIZON Communications), provides readily accessible peer reviewed answers to problems in environment, health, population and development. The purpose of this site is to provide a forum for the presentation of solutions to vital concerns in the areas of health, population, development and the environment. Initiatives are gathered through a number of different means, including direct user submissions, the efforts of partner institutions, and HORIZON's own research activities. The case studies not only encourage the replication of existing projects and provide information on how to do so, but also inspire the development of new initiatives. The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Environment Programme (UNEP), Population Fund (UNFPA), UNICEF, and Yale University are collaborating with HORIZON on the Site, and numerous other organizations are cooperating by providing case studies. Individuals and institutions throughout the world are requested to participate with the HORIZON Solutions Site -- by using the Site, by submitting case studies on successful initiatives that can benefit others, and by taking part in our internship and research fellow programs. A Solutions Site case study submission form is available here. There is also a Submit Suggestion form here for potential case study development by the submitter, by HORIZON, or by others. All case studies are thoroughly researched and evaluated by HORIZON's Scientific Review Board and other experts before being added to the Site. IDRC President Maureen O'Neil wrote: "The many well known and respected individuals who are part of your Scientific Review Board, provide the seal of quality that will reassure any serious user of web-based research material. Your site is proof positive that through partnerships we can make a lasting contribution to the world of knowledge." The Site is for the benefit of people throughout the world, "from industrial leaders to micro-entrepreneurs, from agricultural experts to small scale farmers, from wildlife preservationists to marine ecologists, from family planning experts to public health workers, and from government decision-makers to educators. " Internships Aiding in the development of the Solutions Site is a unique group of highly-qualified interns, currently representing over eight countries on four continents.
