Horizon International invites your participation with its efforts to reduce Global Climate Change by sharing knowledge of proven initiatives of every scale. Bike paths, energy conservation measures for homes and offices, manufacturing techniques, energy production, transportation, agricultural processes, reduced consumption -- all efforts are important and have a cumulative impact.
We invite you, your colleagues and friends to submit case studies and articles, to provide links to the Horizon Solutions Site, to assist with dissemination of information from and about the Site, and to become a Horizon Associate (consisting of interns, volunteers, and research fellows).
The case studies posted on the Site really "tell the story" so initiatives can be replicated. They include:
· Information on the background of the problem being addressed;
· How and by whom the solution was initiated;
· How long it has been underway; how well it is working;
· Constraining factors such as costs, limitations of materials;
· Applicability and feasibility for replication locally, regionally, internationally;
· Evaluation results, if any and by whom the evaluation was conducted;
· Photographs, graphic and other visual materials; and,
· Resource and contacts for further information.
First, send us an abstract or summary about your proposed study or article. If it is selected, we will invite a submission. For case studies, we will send a form, a template on which you can work directly and that you can submit for evaluation and review.
If you need assistance, one of the Horizon Associates might be able to help you prepare the case study.
Horizon also invites submissions, especially from young people, for the Horizon Solutions Site for Kids of All Ages, www.solutions-site.org/kids. These may include cartoons, games, photo essays, contest ideas, songs, video clips and other media efforts, and ideas for further development of the Kids Site.

Using carbon emission credits to promote environmentally sensitive agriculture
Participating nations at the Kyoto conference last December agreed that investment in carbon-absorbing environmental practices which offset harmful "greenhouse gas" emissions could be converted into credits. TechnoServe is developing a way for low-income farmers to be included in the international market for carbon emission credits. TechnoServe is investigating the use of these credits to support environmentally sensitive agricultural cultivation by small-scale producers in developing countries.
