Andrew Spielman, Sc. D. Professor of Tropical Public Health Harvard School of Public Health
Professor Andrew Spielman was a member of the faculty at the Harvard School of Public Health since 1959. His official title was Professor of Tropical Public Health. He published around 300 scientific articles, organized various symposia and consulted with governments, NGOs and corporations about the control of vector-borne diseases.
At HSPH, he headed the research laboratory of Public Health Entomology (which includes about 25 people at any given time) and directed a training program in Emerging Infectious Diseases for doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers. At Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, he directed the Malaria Epidemiology Program within the Center for International Development.
Professor Spielman died in December 2006. Horizon's remembrance
