Participating nations at the Kyoto conference last December
agreed that investment in carbon-absorbing environmental practices which
offset harmful "greenhouse gas" emissions could be converted into credits.
TechnoServe is developing a way for low-income farmers to be included
in the international market for carbon emission credits. TechnoServe is
investigating the use of these credits to support environmentally sensitive
agricultural cultivation by small-scale producers in developing countries.
