The Plain Talk Initiative for Teens
The Plain Talk initiative was developed by the Annie E. Casey Foundation to address its perceived need for a more community-based approach to the problems of teen childbearing. In keeping with the philosophy that "it takes a village to raise a child," Plain Talk seeks to address teen pregnancy and sexually transmissible infections by organizing and mobilizing entire communities to change the attitudes of adults, teens and service providers in ways that support the wider use of contraception.

The Growing Together program of Girls Inc., a national youth organization dedicated to helping girls achieve their full potential as human beings, is a series of workshops designed to increase positive communication between parents and children on matters related to sex and values. Since 1981, Girls Inc. has been on record as supporting age-appropriate sexuality education and, in the late 1980s, developed a series of programs on Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy for young women aged 9-18
