You Still Can't Drink the Water, But Now You Can Touch It
Laboratory filtration system kills 100 percent of dangerous microbes in water taken from Hurricane Katrina disaster.The system--safer, cheaper and simpler to use than many other methods--breaks down a range of toxic chemicals. While the method cleans the water, it doesn't yet make the water drinkable. However, the method may eventually prove critical for limiting the spread of disease at disaster sites around the world.

The report concludes concludes that many communities and countries suffering or facing water shortages as a result of climate change could dramatically boost supplies by collecting and storing rain falling freely from the clouds.

European Union donates funds to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene for Zimbabwe’s rural poor.
An estimated 1.2 billion people, roughly one out of every six are exposed to water-related illness from their drinking water. The European Union has donated 3.7m Euro (approx US$4.7million) to a UNICEF project that will reach 500,000 Zimbabweans with improved sanitation, hygiene and water facilities. The project focuses on those infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.

United Nations Agency Joins African Development Bank To Spur Clean Water For Cities
The provision of safe water and sanitation in African cities will benefit from $500 million in funding from the African Development Bank (ADB) in coming years under a landmark Memorandum of Understanding signed with the United Nations agency entrusted with promoting socially and environmentally sustainable cities.
