Ting-yu Wu
M.D., MPH
Acting Research Director, Health and Environment
HORIZON Solutions Site
In June 2001, Dr. Wu received his Masters degree from Harvard
School of Public Health (HSPH) with a concentration in Health Care Management
and Health Policy. Prior to studying at Harvard, he was Attending Physician
in the Neurology Department of Min-Sheng General Hospital in the northern
part of Taiwan. He was Resident and Chief Resident in the Neurology Department
at Taipei Municipal Zen-ai Hospital. He received his M.D. from Chung-Shan
Medical College in Taichung, Taiwan.
Inspired by the courses he took at the HSPH, he developed
a strong interest in health policy research and management skills.
He wants to apply his knowledge, medical experience, and
management skills to his work with HORIZON while strengthening his administrative
talents and knowledge. Dr. Wu also wants to expose himself to more health
economics issues and health policy research through his work for HORIZON.
While practicing medicine, he came to realize that if he
wants to help large numbers of people improve their health conditions,
the best way would be to bring about improvements in public health.
He will serve for at least a year with HORIZON and be based
at HORIZON's headquarters at Yale University. His initial title, in addition
to that of Intern, will be Acting Research Director Health and Population.
His language skills include spoken and written Mandarin
and Taiwanese as well as English. He will live with his wife and daughter
in New Haven.
