F. Brown, M.D., M.P.H.

Population Council
Dr. George F. Brown is a Vice President of the Population Council. He
is both a physician and a public health specialist with strong social
science interests.
Dr.
Brown is a graduate of the University of Toronto, earning an M.D. degree,
and of Harvard University School of Public Health, receiving a Master
of Public Health degree. He has extensive experience in international
health and family planning programs including advisory positions in Tunisia
and Morocco, and technical assistance and research in many countries of
Africa and Asia.Formerly
he was director of program policy and director of population and health
sciences, International Development Research Centre, Ottawa.
In
his current position he directs all aspects of the Population Council's
international programs in Latin America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
This includes research and technical assistance with developing country
institutions in family planning, reproductive health, roles and status
of women, and population policy.
