This is the first issue of what will be a regular series of HORIZON International Newsletters.
These Newsletters are intended make HORIZON's friends and supporters and potential friends and supporters aware on a continuing and timely basis of what HORIZON is doing and plans to do to further its objectives.
They will present summaries of our new case studies and case studies in preparation. They will carry articles, photo-essays and reports on promising initiatives prepared by our Associates and others. We will report on conferences, forums, and other collaborative efforts in which we participate and awards and honors bestowed on HORIZON and our many talented Associates, including our Research Fellows, Interns and Volunteers.
We encourage and welcome your ideas and comments and will include in future Newsletters a representative selection of the letters you send.
As with all of HORIZON'S efforts, the Newsletters' success and relevance will be directly dependent on the input, interest and support of our many friends. We hope you enjoy them and find them useful!

Mission Statement
HORIZON is dedicated to encouraging and developing solutions to health, environment, population and development problems that exist throughout the world. HORIZON makes generally available the knowledge of these solutions with the help of cooperating organizations and HORIZON Associates and the use of different forms of media, such as television and the Internet, so that the solutions may be economically replicated wherever they may be necessary or useful.
