A part of traditional costumes, this musical instrument called the charango is made with the Andean armadillo (Quirquincho) shell. A symbolic and endemic species of Ouro province, the Quirquincho is endangered due to traditional practices.

 

A Pink Nose-bottled dolphin, which inhabits the Amazon rivers. With the many legends about the dolphin, local people don't hurt them; they are believed to be human ancestors that have been reincarnated. However, propellers and the pollution of rivers pose threats to this species.

 

Degradation processes within mountain forests promote landslides, contributing to the lost of natural barriers and the inability to sustain original soils.
